Collaboration Report
For the last two projects in EDM 310, I was in a group April Crum
, Brooke Ladnier, and Jeanette Kelly. They were so great to work with! Trying to find times to meet was the biggest obstacle we had, but we overcame that, easily. We met face-to-face and we also skyped with one another for the second project. Skype was the most convenient tool because we were able to do it from home. We played around with the Google chat, but Skype was our preferred communication tool. We didn’t think to take a screen shot or video of our virtual meetings because we were too focused on deciding how we were going to do our projects. That would’ve come in handy for this post! Nonetheless, we wouldn’t have been able to complete our final projects without the use of skype.

Class Blog #1
My Name is Shaun Coleman I'm originally from New Orleans and I've lived on the coast for about 10yrs now. I've been all over world before because I once was in the Navy so I've traveled Quite a few places. Italy,England,Dubai,and Kuwait! I lived in Washington D.C for two years and I was apart of the Ceremonial Guard as a casket bearer. I've done hundreds of funerals in the famous Arlington National Cemetary. Did quite a few ceremonies at the Pentagon and even the White House. Had a chance to meet then president George Bush Jr. After that I was stationed in Jacksonville, Fla for a few years. Once I finished my service time me and my family moved to Birmingham, Al and begin working for a company called Sysco. Lived there for another three years before returning to the coast and moving back home.
When I got back here I began going to college at Mgccc and earned my associates in Applied Science and also Electrical Technology. I graduated from there and enrolled at USA last semester and been enjoying my senior college experience. I'm a Physcial Education major because I love coaching kids and mainly football. I coach a 11yr old football from the Moss Point but we played in Mobile city league and made history. We the first team to ever come in the league for the first time and win the Youth Bowl. So coaching is my passion and I love it. I currently co own a night club also in Moss Point called Club Visions which I've been doing for a year. I have two kids which they are 8 and 3. I plan to continue my education and earn my bachelors degree. I love working out and going to the gym, being with my family means the most to see.

Mr. Winkle Wakes is a video that shows how technology has helped upgrade our society and that t,he education profession has not changed too much and that can be due to several reasons.The lack of knowing technology but people need to know the simple learning skills of all technolgy and understanding how technology works all over the world. Technology helps make managing your bank account easy. Students need to know how it works and why a computer can do pretty much anything. Students should acquire this ability before trying to interact with a computer.
I believe many theories as to why they would not want to change. Probably the educators do not feel really comfortable instructing with tools they dont really know about. There may be some educators who feel, like why change it if it works?? I think these questions about technology should be checked out. I think that students who enjoy and live for a technological world will also stride and enjoy a technological school history. Mr. Winkle has to be a serious eye for educators as a warning sign to not let the technology miss being apart of the schools. It would be crucial to society to let the world keep going forward while the schools are left behind in the dust.

Originally this video was by Karl Fisch and Scott McCleod. Did you know ? 3.0- A John Strange 2012 version is saying the world is changing. and the U.S. is behind all the countries in education. It's interesting that china has more than 75%honor students compared to the U.S. Less than 25%. But in my opinion, for China to be the number one English speaking country in the world, is very disrespectful the United States citizens. And it shows our lack of education here in America. This should motivate everyone to want to be and educator. The video clearly suggests is that as an educator, you must be willing to embrace change and the world of technology around us.

In this video Ken Robinson compares creativity to literacy and how it's important. He said that “You have to be prepared to be wrong, or you will never be original”. As a nation we are so focused on doing what we percieve is right and sometimes afraid of making mistakes. As people we are losing creativity, which is not even close to being a fact. I believe this is one of the most creative nations in the world. Everybody working as an educator, should come up with more ways to succeed in this to teach our students and should make the sacfries necessary to contribute to the learning experience. Math,Language,Art and Music should always be the main ones at the top of the creative list. Students learn and pay attention to being interactive and movement also can help.

I believe that the students are already learning a lot thru technology. In America kids are very computer literate,because of the day and age we are at with computers and cell phones, it enhances their learning ability and tools the kids use. Students enjoy participating and not just reading trying to memorize from books. At the end of the day, I agree with teaching students of the future through technology.

Stephanie Tyler's Video
I found this to be a very interesting video.The special kids seem like they are really enjoying Ms. Tyler class and the way she helps them learn. You can clearly see this an outlet for kids with special needs to be able to complete their assignments like the rest of kids and have fun as well. The computer serves us all great purpose and can assist in all aspects of life.
We can use those methods Ms.Tyler has used in edm310 as well because some of us aren't as computer literate as others. I must say it takes me a while to understand alot of the assignments we have but I'm learning different ways to understand and somehow I manage. I believe I should look into that website that helps you zoom in on your words because I have trouble reading small print also. But overall its a very informative video and I'm glad to see that the kids are able to learn at the same pace as everyone else.
Apple Apps for kids
I would use the math board app in the classroom because its probably the hardest subject for kids to learn and for adults also. It breaks down the math problems and give you ways to have each child involved and also making it very fun. This app is very interesting and can help in numerous ways in the classroom.
Kids will be able to work on these assignments at home and in the classroom and learn alot from them using their ipads. The math board app gives you different quizzes and learning objectives to learn all kinds of math.Wonderful learning tool when using the ipad in the classroom and at home. The students can be creative as well as have fun while doing the work.
Social Media Changes
Wow this site is an eye opener for everyone. I think about when I was a kid or even in high school that technology didn't mean that much to me or my peers. In today's society we have come a long way and nowadays we cant even walk out the door without our phones, ipod, ipad or laptops.
I believe its a great think because we can always communicate with each other and also with school. We can do everything from social sites and our phones. I love the way technology has grown, and I'm looking forward to what may take place in the future world of all this technology. Facebook, twitter and a million other sites have grown to be our life and we have gotten to attach to all of new age ways of the world.
A Vision of Students Today
Very informative video i watched. I totally agree with this. As a future educator I don't like the way our kids are being taught especially on a college level.We have all spent lots of money on class and those books we never even open. It seems like every year its more and more of a rip off. I have maybe two instructors this semester who actually knows my name.
Its really like we teaching ourselves, there's no hands on anymore. Students need the time and attention so we can all be able to teach and do our jobs when we become future educators. Technology has taken control and we have no use for books in a classroom. Classes are too large to be just sitting in there going over power point videos. We spend more time trying to find answers to our study guide then actually learning the information we obtained in class. Lets get back to basics where each student is involved. It seems money is more the objective then learning.

Don't teach your kids this stuff
I really enjoyed this blog, Mr.Mcleod just exposed technology as a whole and what our kids are learning on a day to day basis. Computers,cell phones, Internet, tv all contribute to our kids being brainwashed and exposed. We have consumed ourselves so much with technology we fail to see what's actually going on.
I can only imagine what high tech things my kids will have going on in the future. I have a 10yr old son he already been sneaking and watching porn on his PS3. I had to turn up the parental controls so he won't be able to see it. Kids have too much access to porn sites and other mature things kids shouldn't be able to see.

I SCHOOL
I'm totally against kids being taught virtual not by interaction or hands on. Students that's in college such as myself have a hard enough time doing computer based or online classes. Because it seems like your teaching yourself and you really can't get the feel for the work or classroom this way. There should be a stopping point when it comes to all this technology and this isn't it.
Kids have a right to be taught by an teacher not by a computer,this makes our jobs as educators unnecessary because it shrinks the teaching field even more then it already is. We have to give our full attention to our future students and educators. I love a lot of things you can do with computers from home but not the whole class. We still need pens,pencils and paper in my opinion. Hands on is the best teaching tool we have let's not lose that in today's schools.

“Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.” The quote says it all. You get experience in every thing you do. If your doing something you want you still get experience, it just doesn’t feel like it. If it something you didn’t want, you still learn from it. Nothing is a waste of your time if you look at it from an educational perspective.
Dr.Pausch is a very strong and inspirational man, his strength and will after watching the video inspires me to keep pushing even more. His quote "We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand". I feel that is a line that will stick with me forever. For a man to be dying from cancer you would never tell because his determination and drive gives me hope that no matter what we are going through in our lives there's always somebody who has it a lot worse. We all have a purpose in life and it's a must that we figure out our place and make the best of any situation.
Life comes at you fast. Dr.Pausch quote "I probably got more from that dream and not accomplishing it than I got from any of the ones that I did accomplish". He's basically was telling us as individuals to live your life and fulfill your dreams at all cost. He's accomplish so much and since he was a kid he set out a plan and even tho the plan different go as planned he found a way to conquer everything he wanted to do. It's a blessing to be here and to have good health and to be able to do things we wanna do.
So I will push harder and never let anyone discourage me about what I can and can't do in this world. Thanks Dr.Pausch your gone but not forgotten and has made a great impression on me and life. Reading this Blog, I have learned that in order to internalize a new vocabulary word, you have to hear it at least 70 or more times. I know understand that when learning language, it is important attach feeling to a word in order to make meaning of how it will be used. It is also important to give language learners the ability to practice using the words, and get comfortable hearing the words come out of their mouth.
I now understand that recording a podcast is a great tool for language learners. I enjoy watching podcast videos because it gives you a sense of teaching you what you need to do based off the video. Students learn easier when they can see a visual as to what's going on.
Students all over the world are using these tools to be successful in class and in other areas by using the podcasts technology. As a future educator I'm glad we have these videos to help us learn how to do a skill or even just learning something different.

C4K Summary February
I had my C4K assignment on Ashley she did her blog assignments on Titanic. I enjoy following and reading her work. Especially skyping from New Orleans because that's my home town. She also had a posts on a musical she watched and enjoyed. Ashley has very interesting posts and gave me a great history on the real story of the titanic.

Watching this video is a big concern for me! I don't agree with our future kids basically being taught only from computers, we as educators have an obligation to teach students in a classroom setting so they will be able to learn more and grasps the concepts of the new technology and doing everything online.
But it's a great way to enhance ones computer skills and learning of different things with technology. I find it interesting to be connect with the world by your fingertips. Kids can interact with students from across the states and even the world. I still feel we should keep the traditional way of learning in the classroom because it's hard to teach yourself things without help.
Only reason students need a teacher is to be able to learn the skills and tasks assigned to the students. But as this technology grows and we go away from the classroom settings there will be less of an opportunity for educators to get jobs because there will be no need to pay them to do a job that has hardly no significance for classroom.

First Progress PLN
In my PLN i plan to use symbaloo. Its a very cool and interesting site. Similiar to google chrome but it has everything all together at your finger tips. Facebook, twitter, youtube and etc. I been trying to use it more and more when i get on the computer. Symbaloo is great

This Is How We Dream was a remarkable production by Dr. Richard E. Miller of Rutgers University. Dr. Miller mentioned alot of important advances that technology has made over time and how the world will benefit from these technological advances. Dr. Miller's presentation revolved around the impact that technology had on the world for the most part, and he mentioned specifically on how technology has transformed the way that people learn writing. Before the television was invented info would take several weeks to travel across the world, but now with one click of a button you can connect the world, During the radical protests of the 1960’s people would chant the phrase “the whole world is watching”, and like no other time in history the whole world was watching. Because of this new technology the world had to base its political ideology on what had been seen through the television.
The Presidential debates between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon were the first to ever be televised, and it was altered the way that people would view an American president. Technology changed the way people viewed their politicians, and technology became the most influential way that swayed people opinion. People look back at the beneifits that technology has made over the years and wonder how they could ever do without technology such as: the television, the radio, and the cell phone. Just like the invention of the television we are now experiencing an even greater aspect of technology during this age, computers, cell phones, ipods and ipads, technology is at an all time high and continuously growing and of this technological advancement was the main goal of Dr. Miller's presentation.
Dr. Miller focused his presentation around the vast amount of information that people have access to. Through modern technology we have access to the riches of the world, and with such access who are we to hold information to ourselves? Technology has provieded many benefits for the society that we live in, but the greatest benefit that Dr. Miller brought out was the ability for the world to unite and share information. The art of writing has been around throughout the history of the world, but only resontly has the written language evolved to a universally accessable form of media. Another important aspect of technology that Dr. Miller brought out was the collabrative tools which are so easily accessed and used from the internet. By utilizing collaborative tools such as Facetime, Skype, Google documents, and many others people are able to come together, regardless of geographical distance, and work on a document at the same time.

Carly did a great job with blog post #12. I really enjoyed her suggestions of the Youtube playlist, and I see how creating a playlist could benefit me as a future educator. Carly's writing styles I believe was the same caliber with Dr. Miller's presentation about writing with multi-media. Carly's blog post was in great depth, and her blog post was the perfect example of how we as future educators should write our work. I'm a student who often writes blog posts in EDM 310 are what I would call "satisfactory work", but we as future educators shouldn't do any satisfactory work we should aspire to go above and beyond! Carly's post was above the normal and great efficient use of technology, and I salute her for the excellent blog posts!

C4K April Summary
For the Month of April we were assigned to Mrs. Cassidy's class. We were told that these comments that were reading were apart of the "World Challenge". For this challenge we were assigned to one student from Mrs. Cassidy's class and we were suppose to continue to comment throughout the month of April. However, my student that I was assigned to did not have anymore current posts so I went back and commented on ones from the past. My last comment for C4K's was a different student. I had Noah a kid who enjoyed his time with his friends and playing games. In my final posts I just commented under Tom blog and he enjoys his weekend with his parents and playing PSP with his friends.

Technology is affecting sports more and more every day. The new aspects of technology are not just affecting the athletes, or even just the fans, but it is affecting everyone. Athletes, coaches, trainers, and the fans are affected more than anyone else in a variety of ways. For athletes to stay competitive and reach their goals, they have to work harder than their competition. This is becoming easier for all athletes with the emergence if many things. For example, shoes: The first known shoe invented for basketball only, was invented in 1922. In 1922, the Chuck Taylor All-Star was strictly sold at Montgomery Ward for $2.95. There were 12 holes for laces and the shoes came up about 5 inches past the ankle. As the years passed, athletic shoes continued to be made with canvas, which made the shoe very heavy, not to mention uncomfortable. Even into the 1970’s, there were basically only two athletic shoe companies, Converse, the maker of Chuck Taylor’s, and Adidas, who mostly made tennis shoes. In today’s market, there are over 20 popular athletic shoe companies, and still at the top is Nike.
We all know that technology plays a major role in sports. If it weren’t for new inventions and innovative ideas half the sports we know of wouldn’t exists. If it weren’t for technology we wouldn’t have the instant replay, the headset for coaches to throw, or even the wireless microphone for our referees to mix up their words on. However, technology has come a long way since those early discoveries. There is no longer a need for instant replay with the new RFID tags (Radio Frequency Identification Technology) that European Rugby teams are experimenting with. This micro location technology can transmit the exact coordinates of the ball and players at an astounding 2000 times per second. It can also be used to calculate movement, speed, accuracy, and even force of impact. If this technology was implemented in the US it could do away with any type of bad call in relation to ball location and it would essentially eliminate the guess work from officiating. Not only that, but the type of data we could receive before, during, and after every play would be nothing shy of amazing.
The European Rugby League is not the only organization that sees the value in technology; The NHL recently held its first broadcast in 3D and from the sound of things it was a huge success. There are other leagues exploring this technology, in fact there are enough of them out there for ESPN to launch the first ever 3 dimensional network. Certain European Hockey Teams are already implementing 3D dashboard signage. Once the craze catches on the opportunities to monopolize on this type of technology will be endless.
Many athletes are taking advantage of the latest and greatest trends in technology as well. Competitive Ice Skaters like Clint Johnson and Steve Bradbury are taking their experience on the ice to the design table. They have developed a new way to make skates using a process called rapid prototyping. This process allows athletes to get a custom pair of boots made in record time and be on the ice with them faster than ever before. Even better than that, is a prototype that researchers in the Netherlands are working on which will allow athletes to coach themselves. It’s not a video or instructional pamphlet; it’s a state of the art apparel line that can sense your every move and let you know which areas you need to improve. This clothing line, which is known as the Haptic Sports Garment, uses vibrations to help improve posture, target key muscle groups and even help maintain optimal speeds.
With the onslaught of social media, there are also many technological advances taking place away from the field. We all know that athletes are using social sites like Twitter, Facebook and USTREAM to connect with fans and build their personal brand, but did you know that they can now make money directly from doing it? iPhone applications like the Chad OchoCinco Experience are earning athletes money from both point of sale and ad revenue; and, websites like fanwave.com allow athletes, coaches, and teams alike to capitalize on every tweet they send. There are also third party applications like Venuing and Twackle that allow fans to become more involved with their respective teams and players than ever thought possible.
It’s almost impossible to try and imagine where technology will take us next. Will there one day be tiny live cameras and microphones inserted into basketballs, footballs, and baseballs that allow fans to get an even closer view of the action? Will we all one day be playing video games with holographic players on a life size field? Will advertising one day be controlled using our brain waves? It may all sound far-fetched but the technology is there, and it may be on the the market sooner than you can possibly think.

Final Progress Report
Progress Report for Final Project Brooke, Jeanette and April and myself skyped Saturday morning at 11:30 and we'll be getting together on Thursday, April 26th, to finish everything up. We decided that we are going to teach a math lesson for kindergarten students. I have learned several different games in my HS class, and how to modify them for all ages. We are going incorporate the use of beanbags and hula hoops to help keep their interest. There are two different games we are going to play that will help the children with their math skills. You will have to stay tuned to see what the mystery games are! Our group has skyped and discussed about our final project once already and we are planning on meeting to discuss the rest of it this next week after we record our project #15. We have had great teamwork and once we got everyone's schedule worked out, it seemed like everyone pretty much wanted to work together to make sure that this is a good project. Our group members are well coordinated and we seem to have a good bit of communication. We either email one another or text each other a few times a week just to touch base and see where we stand. We have have 3 or 4 meetings.

Class Blog #13
So, for blog post 13 we had to fast technology for 24 hours. Needless to say I failed miserably. While I do go sometimes without technology this was just not a week where that was possible. The NBA Playoffs started and then the NFL Draft came on. I love sports and without technology I can't keep up with what's going on.
I do believe that technology has impacted our life so greatly that it is hard to 24 hours without technology. I don’t think the hardest thing is going without things like the internet, Facebook and twitter. I think it is more of going without things like our iPods, ipads and our cell phones. Many people enjoy their ability to communicate with family and friends on a daily basis. For me, before I enlisted in the Navy I took for granted my ability to talk to my family and friends whenever I wanted. After 6 months of very limited contact with my family I do at minimum text my parents and siblings on a weekly basis and also go see them.
The problem I believe most people have with giving up their technology is a lack of will power. I don’t have to use facebook everyday and I don’t have to check my gmail daily either. I choose to because it gives me the opportunity to communicate with family and friends. I enjoy being able to watch NFL Network all day, that way I get all the updates around the league and my New Orleans Saints. Could I go without it, yes, but why? To prove I can? To prove to Dr. Strange we can’t go without technology for 24 hours? These are not good enough reasons to give up things I enjoy.

After developing an on-going Personal Learning Network, I am excited about how beneficial this will be in my career as a student, and as an educator. As a Physical Education major, I have compiled all of my resources into a category called Physical Education. While Comprising a list and resources of past and current educators and websites, I have a resource list that can very easily be contacted.
Email, Facebook, and Twitter are the main contact resources for the people that make up my PLN. Searching for these resources has not been easy, but I know where to find most of these people (in person). I decided to make my PLN a "community" network- comprised of people that are working and living here in Mobile. I believe that this will allow me to collaborate with others that are in the area.

Class Blog #12 A
Creative and Curiosity?? My Thoughts Assignment #12 A
Curiosity may in fact have killed the cat. But It has satisfaction brought it back. Curiosity can be a positive emotion that leads to the discovery of something great. It can also lead to dangerous instances when you don't executed. At this very point the educator is most in demand. Guidance during the exploratory and curious stage is necessary to online safety and unreliable data. One of our many "hats" reads: "Quality Control Agent."
"Why" is a wonderful word. It leads to reasoning and the investigation of an answer. Perhaps time constraint within the classroom has lead the teacher towards curiosity. But this sounds like an easy way out. I have three boys and I am aware of the time and energy they demand when in search of something. It is definitely a better streamlined model to simply "fill the head" and wait for the burping back of a few answers at test time. But what indeed did the student learn but to memorize and regurgitate. Was a real and tangible connection made with the information and will it be retained by the student? The answer, sadly, is probably no. Maybe along with time constraint is the limited funding and available supplies for the classroom. In many school systems art, music, and even science labs have seen huge budget cuts, up to and even elimination. Three classes are good examples of curiosity and creativity in motion. I, for one, was never bored in these three subjects. I was in fact I was challenged and rewarded. The outcome was usually positive and encouraging for next time.
A curriculum can in fact be created by in which increases the creativity of students. The key component is direct teaching style with student involvement. The Constructivist School concept uses engagement as a means of education. The teacher leads the learning process through a series of question/exploration/experimentation/thinking and understanding. The student has an active role in their education and learns how to think, not simply what to think. Not only is the student's education enhanced but also their social and communication skills. The educator's role is that of a guide instead of a supreme being. Technically the burden of teaching is delegated to the student. In a way this is a win-win solution for the teacher and student. Change is gradual and not always welcome. Dr. Strange through EDM310 is hoping to instill creativity, curiosity in his students so that we become the positive agents of change that is needed within the any school system we are hired into. An Executive in retail once told me, "Change is always a good thing. So we have to be interchangeable." I want to be a positive change.
For most students there is no shortage of curiosity. The handicap here belongs solely to the teacher's inability to foster this curiosity in a productive learning atmosphere. Why give out all the answers at once. Learning should not be as simple as "plug and chug." Instead I can give out the most basic information, hint about interesting concepts, and challenge my students to engage in their own investigation. If I introduce the topic and then we brainstorm about the concepts which naturally leads to the need for more information gathering. The focus is on "gathering" not "getting." The next step is to construction. The students have free reign to the design and materials. I plan ahead and involve parent's resources for basic materials. It is the students role to investigate, collaborate, design, build and, in reality, lead their learning. This is not the typical lecture, worksheet and paper test classroom model. This one involves more involvement for students and teachers (at first).

Class Blog #11
The video Little Kids....Big Potential was really demonstrated in showing the value of technology. Kathy Cassidy is a pioneer in my opinion becuase she was using computers in class when anyone else was accepting it. There was video clips of her students using blogs, Skype, webpages, and more! I love the clip were she has the kids to say, "don't say mean stuff, it could hurt someones feelings." That is really important while using something new, we must teach our children and students the guidelines. Cassidy said that children and technology go hand and hand. She stated that, we as future educators must change because the world has changing everyday." I love her approach to dare to be different and innovative. Cassidy made a statement that we all piggy back from one another, she learned from others, and we learn from her, and others learn from all of us. It becomes a wonderful cycle of wisdom being shared from educator to educator.
I believe that her approach will be very beneficial in my class because I plan to try to teach new things. It's good to see someone paved the way, which gives me motivation that I can also. Now I'm sure this will come with many obstacles,(mainly from my peers) because others are stuck in their ways, but if we just stick to the visions we have as educators, eventually some if(not all) will follow. So the way we handle impediments is accomplishing our goals. Cassidy said we must keep up with technology, which means we must not only accept technology but we must be willing to adapt and change as it keep advancing in the future. Not all methods will work, but we must find what works for our style of teaching methods. The only way we will become the educators of the future, is to leave the past and embrace the future.
I believe that her approach will be very beneficial in my class because I plan to try to teach new things. It's good to see someone paved the way, which gives me motivation that I can also. Now I'm sure this will come with many obstacles,(mainly from my peers) because others are stuck in their ways, but if we just stick to the visions we have as educators, eventually some if(not all) will follow. So the way we handle impediments is accomplishing our goals. Cassidy said we must keep up with technology, which means we must not only accept technology but we must be willing to adapt and change as it keep advancing in the future. Not all methods will work, but we must find what works for our style of teaching methods. The only way we will become the educators of the future, is to leave the past and embrace the future.

Class Blog #10
Do You Teach or Do You Educate?
This video was very interesting! I enjoyed how it was put together and the music they had chosen. I definitely can say that the points made about "educating," were on point. I plan on being an educator, in my near future. My goal in life is to lead my students to success, and on the same path headed forward and make sure my students remember everything I teach them even years after they leave me.
I don't want to just teach them something and have them memorize it to move on to the next grade. I want them to be able to retain any knowledge in a way that will let them carry it with them in the following grades to come. Anything that my students learn from me should be something that they can teach to others and their fellow peers if necessary. I want to educate my students in all areas of life, if possible. As a future educator, I want to be encouraging, inspiring, and reliable.
Tom Johnson's Don't Let Them Take The Pencils Home
Don't Let Them Take the Pencils Home, was quite interesting. I never, before, even payed any attention to the fact the most teachers focus more on the cause of a problem, rather than the solution. Now that it has been brought to my attention, It makes sense to me now. As a student, I have encountered teachers that would always tell me why a certain plans failed, but then when were left in the dark about what to do next. It was, "Well that didn't work, so we won't do that again," instead of "Well that didn't work, so let's try and understand why, and possibly come up with a solution!" Many times teachers are always focused on test scores and in what manner the child is completing their projects. In my opinion, it does not matter if the child is "just doodling with their pencils," as long as it has some type of effective learning takes place. Teachers should stay focused on the best way to help children succeed and realize that "our" plan for their learning, may not be what's best for their learning! We should always come up with solutions to problems rather than dwell on their causes.

C4K Summary March
In my C4K assignment for March I had a kid name Brandon from the Uk. He wrote a suspense story 
about a guy name Marcus and his mafia crew. Marcus was arrested but later broke free from jail. He told the police when they were questioning him at mcdonalds that he had a twin brother who was leaving the country for China in a few days. As they prepared to leave the police busted in on them. I gotta stay tuned for part two.

Class blog #9
The blog What I've Learned This Year, Mr.McClung talks about his first year of teaching. He discusses his expectations going into teaching and his realizations. He gave some tips that I felt would be very helpful to our future as an educator. Mr.McClung made an interesting point that he entered his first year of teaching, he focused so much on how his co workers viewed his teaching delivery that he forgot to consider how his students viewed his teaching methods. This was important to me because I know that even as a student I focus so much on the accuracy of my work, that I forget to consider the importance of the quality work I'm turning in. It was a great point that I will definitely value in the future.
Then another example, was that no lesson plan is perfect but if we should use a lesson plan always remain flexible. If you make mistakes, then you should keep on going and "work with them." I had the misconception that teachers are expected to be perfect, when they enter the field. I see now the reality of teaching , that I never considered. Communicating with your students and peers helps you to have a understanding with both. Mr.McClung suggests that we should be flexible and as teachers we should always take into consideration that we are dealing with students and we shouldn't hold them to such high standards all the time. That is important and as educators we should handle our students with compassion and understanding. Throughout this EDM class, we have discussed the use of and importance of technology in the classrooms. Mr. McClung just reinforces what we have been learning about technology in the classrooms, by saying that we need to not be afraid of it and incorporate it into our world as educators. One of my favorite points he made in his blog post was that we must listen to our students. As a student, I have seen teachers that have listened to me and some who actually don't listen to me. This is important and it allows students to understand that we are there for them. The last point Mr. McClung made was that teachers should never stop learning and educating themselves. Just because you have passed the necessary tests to become a teacher and went through the required years of school, does not mean that you are done learning. The more you educate yourself, the more your teaching styles can improve. Ultimately incorporating all of these different tips into your career as a educator will help me in the future.

Three years after his previous blog post, Mr.McClung wrote What I Learned This Year (2010-2011). This post shows how he has matured as a educator. His teaching expanded to becoming a coach and a computer applications teacher. I absolutely loved the quote that he put into his post that said,"Our decision making process should always be student centered and not centered around pleasing adults." This quote is plain and understanding but says a lot. I took from it that as future educators we may become so wrapped up in the opinions of our peers and daily life problems, that we may lose sight that students are the main focus. He also made a huge point by stating that we should always stay true to ourselves and our beliefs, even if the only person who believes with you, is you. That is important not only for educators, but for everybody. "Never touch the keyboard!" Wow! Can you say powerful?! I love this statement because it basically says that we should let our students learn on their own and not do the work for them. Saving the best for last, my most favorite point of Mr.McClung's blog is that as teachers we should never get to comfortable. As a student I become bored with the same old routine stuff. So continually switch up the lesson plans and techniques will be a vital part of teaching. I admire Mr. McClung for his honest observation. The majority of all the things I've read in this class so far, I can honestly say his blogs were one of my favorites and I plan on taking his advice with me in the future as a future educator.
